A Note on Uniforms
Commanding Officers has great discretionary authority to modify the uniforms of those under their command. They may authorize unique variants or special exceptions to regulations. You will be notified of any changes at your post.

Admiral Dress Uniform
Admiral Dress Uniforms are worn by Admiralty for formal ceremonies, Diplomatic events, or at their discretion.

Admiral Duty Uniform

Admiral Duty Uniforms are worn by Admiralty for normal duties, not formal or Diplomatic events.

Cadet Dress Uniforms are worn by Cadets for official ceremonies or as ordered.

Cadet Duty Uniforms are worn by Academy cadets for normal duties in place of the Standard Duty Uniform. The Grey Department color signifies an Academy Candidate undergoing temporary training on a Starship or Starbase. Cadet rank insignia is not normally worn on this uniform, unless otherwise ordered.

Commando Fatigues are worn only by Special Operations personnel while on covert operations. The Commando's Fatigues have no sign of rank or division, as well as advanced sensor dampening materials woven into the fabric. Standard anti-phaser mesh also covers the entire uniform. This mesh can prevent a Level 7 Phaser hit from killing it's target, or completely stop a level 3 Phaser Hit.

Combat fatigues are only worn by the Tactical Forces when engaged in Surface Warfare. The Combat Fatigues incorporate sensor-dampening fabric with a new phaser-resistant mesh, resulting in a new level of protection for Starfleet's Marine Corps.

Dress Uniforms are only worn for formal duties only such as Change of Command ceremonies, Diplomatic Receptions, or as otherwise needed.

Duty Fatigues were introduced in 2365 as an alternative to the Standard Duty Uniform intended for use in less formal duties. They are most often worn by maintenance workers or by personnel who may have to engage in strenuous physical labor.

Exercise Fatigues are simple, comfortable clothes intended for use during physical training exercises.

New Duty Uniforms were introduced in 2373 to replace the Duty Fatigues. They are quickly replacing the Standard Duty Uniform in actual use, although the Standard Duty Uniform is still legal, and will be for the foreseeable future.

The Standard Duty Uniform is the most basic and common of Starfleet Uniforms. It was almost exclusively the only one in use between 2245 and 2265, but the Duty Fatigues, and later the New Duty Fatigues have become much more common on Starship Decks and at Starbases. This Uniform remains popular though, with Instructors at Starfleet Academy and senior staff at Starfleet Command.
