USS GRAIL NCC-1124

EMERGENCY MEDICAL HOLOGRAM

The Emergency Medical Hologram, also known by its initials, EMH, is a holographic projection designed to provide immediate medical attention to people in the need for it. The rather new, state-of-the-art technology has been recently implemented to the ship in order to improve the medical care aboard in emergency situations.

THE TECHNOLOGY

The EMH is a hologram, with the same technological specifications as those projected inside the Holodecks. To achieve this, holographic projectors are located almost everywhere inside the ship.

To accomplish the best performance on care of emergencies, the ship's computer scans permamently the lifesigns of all the crewmembers that are aboard at a given time (for this, the computer registers the incoming and outgoing people); shall a lifesign fade, the computer locates the position of that signal and activates the EMH on that position.

However, there are certain areas in which the EMH cannot reach, because of the interference some energy fields cause on the holographic projection:

LIMITED ACCESS

NO ACCESS

Jeffries tubes

Plasma conduits

Near computer relays

Warp nacelles

Near energy generators

Impulse engines

Near sensor arrays

Outside hull

THE FUNCTIONS

The EMH is designed primarily for taking care of medical emergencies with no loss of time. The link of the hologram to the medical compurter allows it to:

EMH ACTIVATING PROTOCOL

Any crewmember who feels in the need for immediate medical assistance or whose lifesigns are fading on the computer's sensors, except in restricted areas, is suitable for the activation of the EMH in his/her location.

The protocol for activation of the EMH is as follows:

RESTRICTIONS OF THE CREW TO THE USE OF THE EMH
