OPS stands for the operations and management division of the USS Grail. OPS functions have developed over time. Some years ago, most of today's OPS functions where routed and controlled through other departments, especially the tactical department. However, as time went by, OPS begun to gain more and more importance, until it eventually became one of the most important departments of any ship or starbase.

OPS consists today of handling an infinity of ship's crucial and non-crucial tasks, such as damage control parties, crew rotations and resources allocations, room assignments, cargo management, internal and external sensor data management, crew evaluations, waste disposal, and many, many more.

OPS was previously manned by Lt. Cmdr. Corvette Hunt, from Jupiter. A mutant heavy-wolder. The rest of his staff, were very carefully selected individuals, who have, in the small time of having been assembled, already gained the nickname of 'black back accountants', whatever that nickname might represent.

After the resignation from it's former chief, OPS is now being handled by Lt. Posala. This beautiful and very tall half breed between a vulcan and a klingon, has in the small time since taken command, removed every single trace left by it's predecessor, including wire-taps, hearing bugs, video-surveillance and such. Also, all of the former's OPS personnel have been reasigned to other duties as new crewmembers have come to fill in their positions.
