Subject: Grail: "Thank Q"- `Staff Meeting- `Reports' - OPS Report

Epic looked at each of them and said. "All right. Who's first? What is going on?"

"I might as well be the one." a voice came from across the room. Everyone's gaze turned to see the tall pale figure of the chief of operations who raised up from his seat to address the group.

"My name is Lt. Cmdr. Corvette Hunt. I am the chief of operations assigned for this ship. I know all of you from your biographies and personality profiles. I don't plan to get to know you very well. I plan to get to know how you work, and see that I can maximize everyone's work potential that way."

Everyone gave him a strange gaze. He really didn't mind what the others might think of him. He had a job to do, and he planned to do it to the best of his abilities.

"The first order of business, would be my staff. If there are no objections in this room, I'm appointing Lt. (jg) John Parker as head of damage control onboard this vessel. The reason I appoint this at the staff reunion is, because of being head of damage control is going to give him a lot of control in coordinating all rescue and repair operations, and he's likely to have to use your departments resources at his disposal in order for him to accomplish his job. In this pad I'm sending everyone, it details all damage control responsibilities, and as well as the modifications in the departments chain of command while we are engaged in damage control protocols (OOC: it'll be on the homepage in about 2 weeks). Are there any objections?"

<If someone cares to say anything, you may say so now :) >

"Good. Now that that's been taken care of, the rest of my staff. Parker and I have been carefully deciding who to 'hire'. The following persons we have decided to be the best ones to help us here in Ops. Now, I know many of you are going to have second thoughts about the persons we have chosen to have, but, as Parker and I agree, they would all complement several different areas of Ops that we need. Please everyone take a look at the holoprojector, and I'll describe each new addition to my staff."

The holoprojector turned on, showing the picture of the person in question, as well as a little bio profile on them.

"This persons are:

- Morliana. An el-aurian. Who better than a listener to listen?

- The Ferengi Nazgur. A ruthless being who can get what he needs, everytime, all the time, and for the right price...

- Marla Countreau. A betazoid. I don't plan to use her very much. Only until I gather a better trained telepath. Her abilities are weak compared to those aboard this vessel. In the mean time, I don't plan to use her head to get what I need, if you know what I mean...

- Selak. A vulcan. What I get from him, is also quite obvious. His abilities lie in his logical way of thinking, the science view input he can offer, and the fact that he's a computer braniac. Hell, I bet he could even get into my secured file if he so desired...

- Kahtor, a Klingon. What ops department would be complete without a strong, ruthless guy. I always need someone who can intimidate his opponent with a single smile, or stand in the way of a punch without having second thoughts."

The holoprojector turned off, and everyone returned it's gaze back at Corvette Hunt. Everyone seemed a little more edgy, now that the ops guys had been introduced.

"As you might learn in the future, each of these carefully selected individuals contain certain aspects of both Parker's and my own abilities, so that they act as if they were backups of our ownselves. That'll give us absolute control over them, and as well, it'll give them enough free leave to act on their own. Do you Parker have anything else to add?"

<Parker's input and Corvette's response>

"Alright now, next subject. Shift rotations. All of us, as senior officers we all are part of Red shift. Unless there are no objections, my suggestion is to have three shifts. Red, Blue and Yellow. Each working 8 straight hours, instead of the standard 10-12 hour shift. I believe it will make everyone work more productively. During yellow alert situations, if the current active shift is red, they'll continue in command, and have blue team come on duty as backup personnel. If blue shift is the one on duty, yellow shift falls down to backup duty. But if yellow shift is in command, it will become the backup shift, and it will be replaced in command by red shift."

<Anyone's input is welcome>

"Regarding ops department, blue shift is going to be manned by Countreau, Nazgur and Morliana. Countreau is going to get mad when she cannot read the ferengi's mind, while Nazgur is going to get mad because of working with females. Morliana will be the peacemaker between them. Yellow shift will be manned by Selak and Kahtor. A vulcan and a klingon working together. That's gonna be intense. I know what you are going to say about this interactions, but I know what I am getting into it. In the future, they'll interact well, and they'll know what to trust from each other, and what not to trust, and at the same time, they'll keep each other on their edges, and from what I've learned from them and their profiles, that's how they work best."

Corvette Hunt looked around at everyone else, and looked at each member in the eye. "At the end of this session, I'd like to compile a list of everyone's department personnel in order to have the rotation shifts written down into a table."

Sitting down, Corvette concluded his report.
