Janice sat at her desk, stunned. *Is that what he wanted? Someone to
help him build a few games for ten-forward?*
"Yes, I have already read your bio," Janice began, calling up the file
in her memory. *Quite an engineering background...* she thought,
impressed. "But with all the technical knowledge you possess, surely
you know that you could just as easily replicate the machines.. or if
you prefer to create them, then just replicate the parts. Why go
through all the trouble of scavenging the parts?" she asked curiously.
"I'm aware that i could save time and trouble by using the replicators CDR. But one of the few things that I have an excess of at this point is time. I need a project like this to keep be busy when I'm not working. Also I only have access to the food replicators at this point and they can't reproduce all of the parts correctly, if I'm thinking correctly," replied Tony.
Janice shrugged, standing finally. "If that's the way you prefer, so be
it. Who would you prefer to help you on this endeavor. I can spare
almost anyone you ask for," she said, scanning the room outside her
office. She really did like her crew here. To some people, the Grail
seemed like a prison... but in the past day, it had suddenly changed to
a home. Which was something she had never had before. She had had a
house, of course, where she grew up, but it was never "home." But
here... she had people who understood her - Eve and Epic. It was
strange.. and good. Janice was startled back to reality when Tony spoke
again.
"I don't really know any one in engineering CDR. Whoever you feel is best
suited for the task at hand, and can spare easily enough for a few hours.
Once I have the parts I would prefer to work on my own until it is ready to
be programmed. Id be happy to work with anyone in here. I appreciate your
time and assistance," said Tony.
As I stand waiting for the CDR'S reply I suddenly remember something else
I wished to ask her. "I have a question off the subject at hand. I am wondering
if you have an idea what might be valuable to the area we are going now. I'd
like to have something to barter with the people in case we actually get to get
off for a while," said Tony.
